HAKEA BURRENDONG BEAUTY

This is Hakea Burrendong Beauty, a hybrid hakea that arose in Burrendong Arboretum N.S.W. It's a layered spreading low shrub when young but gets taller with age. It grows 1.5m wide and 0.4 - 1.2m high. It's an extremely adaptable plant growing in full sun to semi-shade in well drained moist to dry sites. Best results are achieved when planted in acid to neutral loams but also happy in sand or clay soil. Extremely drought hardy although it responds to occasional deep summer watering.

Hakea Burrendong Beauty in our garden. It is doing very well and is flowering for the first time this year. It flowers down the length of the stem and the flowers look fantastic in contrast to the beauty of the green leaves.
